Dancing has been a part of Louvelle’s life, heart and soul from a very young age. Lou has traveled the world taking and teaching various forms of dance. Though Lou has been dancing and teaching in the Durango community since 2012, she created Salsa Dance Durango in 2016. The first night of Salsa Dance Durango classes in January 2016 opened to a full house, and the momentum has continued to grow ever since.
Lou has completed the Black Belt Salsa Instructor Certification Program. In the summer of 2017, she became certified in Dance Business Management (DBM), and trained intensively to become certified as Blue Belt (primary) instructor and an official BBS School Sensei. Apprentice instructors are currently in a year long training program for Black Belt Salsa Certification. Lou also teaches private lessons and hosts Latin dance demos at various local events.
If you are interested in booking a class, private lesson, event or would like to know more about instructor training, please visit Salsa Dance Durango or contact Lou at email@example.com.
West Slope Westies is a West Coast Swing group still relatively new to Durango consisting of members from all walks of life. West Coast Swing is a highly varied dance with roots in the 30's and 40's. The dance highlights partnership and improvisations. West Coast Swing can be danced to many styles of music from blues, rock, hip-hop, country and many more. Just as connection is paramount to West Coast Swing, the West Slope Westies strive to build community through the connections of dance.
The West Slope Westies coordinators (left to right) are Jennifer Story, Autumn von Flotow, and Connor Elliot, all of whom have been hooked on, and passionate about, West Coast Swing for years. Connor has been the driving force of building the WCS community in Durango, and lead teacher for classes. Jennifer and Autumn teach classes and have been essential in establishing the WCS community.
The West Slope Westies offer weekly group classes and social dances, private lessons, as well host a variety of dance events throughout the year. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for information, or to get on their mailing list, and be sure to follow them on facebook.
Laretta's passion for line dancing started in Pennsylvania when she was 18. Since then she has lived in several different states working seasonal jobs and dancing wherever she could find a dancefloor. During Laretta's travels she realized that line dancing is not as popular as other dances, therefore took every opportunity to teach friends and anybody who was interested. Now Laretta calls Durango home and is excited to get more involved with the dancing community.
